Spark STEM Scholars was founded in July 2024 by Brooklyn Tech Science Olympiad members Jennifer L and Michelle C as a passion project designed to tutor students of different ages in various STEM subjects.
Since its founding, Spark STEM Scholars has grown significantly, with new subjects being taught, including college prep, and a growing community of more than 15 mentors who have collectively taught over 150 mentees.
With hundreds of hours of designing lessons, grading tests, and homework, and teaching, Spark STEM Scholars continues to bring high-school level knowledge from experienced mentors to the younger generations and cultivate learning everywhere.
"My mentor helped me feel prepared for geometry and I seem to be ahead of the lessons being taught in my own class. Thanks to her I can happily say that I understand what I'm being taught (even though I don't understand my own teacher/not my mentor)."
- Geometry Mentee, 2025-2026 Year
"It was a good paced class, not too hard but definitely challenging. Physics was a very good course and I learned a lot more than I expected to. Geometry was a very good introductory course and very helpful for the upcoming school year."
- Mentee, 2024-2025 Year
"Jennifer Lin was a great teacher bc she helped me a lot with the radicals and exponents and Michelle was great on the first day. Also, chuheng (probably spelled that wrong) was a very chill and great teacher. He was also fluent in ohio-an, and could easily understand my Skibidi speaking."
- Mentee, 2024 Summer
"The Chemistry and Algebra courses were a bit hard, but the mentors made it easy to understand. "
